Illume Flute, Oboe & Piano Trio

illume verb light up; illuminate

Simon Gilliver - Flute & Piccolo | Julia White - Oboe & Cor Anglais | Kiyoko Fukuo - Piano

So called because they strive to make their performances enlightening and uplifting, Illume have performed together in many London and South East venues, including at St. Pancras Church and for regional music club concerts in Hertford & Harlow. Their repertoire stretches from the Baroque period to the present day, and includes works by several living composers with whom they have worked, including White Horses by Ruth Young, scored for flute/piccolo, oboe/cor anglais, piano and narrator. They are able to offer both 'serious' classical programmes, and selections of lighter music for less formal concerts.

Their lecture recital 'Writing for Winds' takes the audience through the spectrum of music written for flute and oboe from Baroque music through to the present, from the perspectives of both composer and performer.
